Is there a way in WHM to increase the security on password strengths?

To change the password strength requirements of cPanel, you must have root WHM (which comes with a VPS or Linux Dedicated server).

  1. Login to WHM and look under "Security Center".
  2. Click the subcategory called "Password Strength Configuration".
  3. This page has check boxes for which rules to use and a slider to set the strength requirement.
The values are 0 to 100, 100 being the strongest. These values will inherit from the default values if they are not specified. The recommended strength level for password creation is 60, which is the median.

Note: It is not recommended to lower the strength requirement for created passwords. Doing so generates a greater chance of account compromise, unauthorized access, and total lockout from your server.
